The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is an Android smartphone produced by Sony. Part of the Sony Xperia Z series, the device, at this stage known as the “Satsuki” project code, was unveiled with the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact at a press conference at the IFA 2015 on September 2, 2015. The device was launched for the first time in Taiwan on November 5, 2015. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is an advanced version of the Xperia Z5 and the first smartphone equipped with a 4K screen. Like the Xperia Z5, the camera also features a fingerprint reader and a 23-megapixel camera with a 0.03 second hybrid autofocus that uses phase-detection autofocus.
Unlike the Xperia Z5, the camera has a 4K screen with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels while maintaining 2 hours 30 minutes of battery life.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor (4×1.5GHz Cortex-A53 and 4×2.0GHz Cortex-A57), 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage can be expanded using microSD cards up to 256 GB. The phone is equipped with a 3430 mAh Li-Ion battery, a 23 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5.1 MP front camera with autofocus. It is available in chrome, black, gold, pink.
The Xperia Z5 Premium is preinstalled with Android 5.1 Lollipop with Sony’s custom interface and software. It has also been updated to run Android 6.x, Marshmallow. On August 23, 2016, Sony announced that the Xperia Z5 Premium would receive an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat. On 16 February 2017 Android 7.0 Nougat has been updated for Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Sim Dual E6883.
